MDM flays Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief’s arrest

Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) has condemned the arrest of the Dukhtaran- e- Millat (DeM) chairperson Syeda Asiya Andrabi along with her personal secretary Sofi Fehmeeda, terming it a case of ‘extreme political vendetta’. “The duo was arrested from their Soura residence here early in the morning on Monday. A huge contingent of police barged into her house and arrested her along with Sofi Fehmeeda. Later on, they were shifted to Women's Police Station, Rambagh,” the MDM spokesman, in a statement today, said.  The spokesperson said, “Asiya Andrabi is severely ill. Ever since her release from Baramula jail on December 21, she was confined at her home with a huge contingent of police restricting her movement. She wasn't allowed even to go to a hospital to get proper medical attention. She is facing respiratory distress and is on oxygen support most of the time. A doctor used to visit her weekly to monitor her condition. She was advised to move to a warmer location but it was not allowed by the government. She wasn't even allowed to meet her incarcerated husband Dr Muhammad Qasim in central jail.” Meanwhile, the spokesman paid glowing tributes to militants who were slain by armed forces in Redwani area of Kulgam district and to the civilians who were slain by the forces in Kulgam and Srigufwara areas.
